Passage: The Glory of “Satguru”
The term ‘Satguru’ does not mean a mere teacher or instructor. A teacher or instructor gives us partial knowledge of the material word only; whereas the Satguru blesses us with the Knowledge of our own real Self, which negates all attachments, frees us from the influence of sorrow, and enables us to realize God Himself. This knowledge can be attained through the Satguru’s grace alone. Therefore, one should cultivate an aspiration for this knowledge.
There is a big difference between a Guru and a Satguru. ‘Satguru’ is one whose mere presence reminds us of our forgotten Supreme Self, our Shiva Consciousness. In His eyes we find kindness, love and care-freeness. His words go deep into our hearts, and when we are with Him, our jiva-consciousness vanishes, and we begin to realize the divine potential hidden inside us. When we take shelter in Him, we are prepared to destroy our ego. Such a Satguru, besides filling us with courage and valor, also awakens our self-confidence before showing us the right path so that we may successfully tread it. Thus He makes us turn inward to embark on a journey towards God, which brings eternal peace and supreme fearlessness.

Section 2 (Critical Reading)
Passage: OM- its meaning and significance
OM is a symbol, syllable that now has come to denote Hindu religion. A popular poster of OM states “OM has over a hundred meanings and one of them is – Welcome to God”.
In this capsule we look at the meaning and scientific significance of OM and how it has journeyed through the world over the millennia. In the Indian thought, OM has been expressed as the primordial sound. It is echo of the sound reverberating in the universe, which originally occurred when this universe began.
In its journey through the world, this same OM has been adopted by the local civilizations variously as:
Amun in the Egypitian civilization,
Amen in the Roman civilization,
Ameen in the Arabic civilization
The origin of this expression, its meaning and its significance is the same all over the world. It is believed that the whole universe, in its fundamental form, is made up of vibrating, pulsating energy. OM is considered as the humming sound of this cosmic energy. It is said to be the original primordial creative sound from which the entire universe has manifested. It is also known as the 'Anahat Nada', the "Unstruck Sound", meaning: the sound that could not be made or produced by striking two objects together.
If you observe the nature of sound, you'll find that all ordinary audible sounds are produced by the striking two objects: bow and strings, drum and stick, two vocal cords, waves against the shore, winds against the leaves, bat against the ball, tiers against the road etc. In short, all sounds within our audible range are produced by objects: visible or invisible, striking each other or vibrating together, resulting in pulsating waves of air molecules which we interpret as sound.
In contrast, OM is the sound which is not the result of the striking of two objects. It rather emanates on its own. It is the primal sound of the universe that contains all sounds in itself.
Questions:
6. What does OM mean/imply?
a. God b. Indian God c. Welcome to God. d. Om has no meaning, it’s a sound
7. What sound might have led to manifestation of entire universe?
a. Hari b.Ram c. Omkar d. None of the options
8. OM is said to be _______

9. All sounds produced from two objects but Om ________.
